FI23 SPO Sport activities Fresbee Golf

The students went to a forest  located a few hundred meters from the school, where a disc golf course was set up. They were divided into teams of 4, the Finnish students explained to the French and Romanian students the rules of this sport activity that they did not know. Disc golf is a game based on the rules of golf. It is played with specific discs similar to frisbees, but usually smaller and heavier. These discs are thrown towards a target, which serves as a "hole", metal baskets topped by a ring of chains designed to stop the disc arriving between the basket and the ring. The rules of disc golf are directly inspired by those of golf. The first shot is off the tee. Each subsequent throw is made just behind the point where the disc landed. As in golf, each round is qualified by a standard number of shots called “par”. A common strategy for a “par 3” is to make a “drive” (long shot), then an "approach" (medium shot to the green), and finally a “putt” (short shot to the basket). The hole is finished once the disc has hit the target, resting at the bottom of the basket. The course is finished when all holes have been played. A complete course usually consists of 18 holes. There is a wide variety of discs, under various brands, combining profile, weight and different plastic materials and falling into three categories corresponding to the distance to be covered: drivers with the thinnest profiles, approach discs, and putters with a less aerodynamic profile.

The students had a lot of fun playing this game. They also enjoyed a beautiful Hanko forest rich in flora and fauna, located along a beach.
